SIC ENGLISH DEPARTURE: DAILY
Departure: Daily
Highlights:
Kinabalu National Park, Niah National Park, Orang Utan and Iban Longhouse
Items to bring:
Rain coat, hand torch, personal toiletries, cotton material clothings, swimming
attire, body soap, towels, walking shoes with rubber sole, anti-malaria tablets
and sun tan/block lotion.
Note: Fort Margherita
and Sarawak Museum is closed on public holidays.
Program:
DAY 01 KUCHING
Arrive Kuching in the morning. Meet and transfer to your hotel. Afternoon (1400
hrs) proceed on a city tour of Kuching. Places of interest include view of
Fort Margherita from the waterfront, across the Sarawak River (no public
admission), Tua Pek Kong Temple – the oldest Chinese temple in Kuching and
the Sarawak Museum – reputed to be the best museum in Southeast Asia. Overnight.
DAY 02 KUCHING – SEMENGGOK ORANG UTAN-LONGHOUSE ADVENTURE
Breakfast in the hotel. Early morning depart to visit the Semonggok Orang Utan
Rehabilitation Centre that houses the Orang Utan, honey bears and other protected
species of wildlife, rescued from captivity. These wildlife are then carefully
nutured and rehabilitated into their natural surroundings. Witness the feeding
of the Orang Utans subject to the animals approaching the feeding platform.
Depart for an overnight stay at a guest house located beside an Iban longhouse.
On arrival, you will be welcomed by the natives of the Iban tribe to the longhouse.
You will experience and learn about their daily activities. After dinner, meet
and Headman of the longhouse and be entertained by traditional dances. Try
the rice wine and participate in the graceful Warrior’s Dance, the Ngajat.
Return to the guest house. Overnight Guesthouse (consisting of individual
beds in a dormitory setting, each bed has a mosquito netting. There are proper
shower and toilet facilities). (Meals: Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
DAY 03 LONGHOUSE – KUCHING
Local breakfast. Witness the pastime games of the Iban people, demostration
on how to use a blow-pipe to hunt. Proceed for a nature walk to see how the
jungle is an important part of the life of the natives. Return to Kuching.
Overnight. (Meals: Breakfast/Lunch)
DAY 04 KUCHING – MIRI
Breakfast in hotel. Early departure to the airport for flight to Miri (KCH/MYY
MH2800 0700/0905 hours). On arrival, proceed to Niah National Park which
is world famous for the oldest human remains find in Southeast Asia dating
back some 40,000 years. Here you will explore the Niah Caves, visit the Museum
on the history of Niah and see tall bamboo poles (once) used to collect birds’
nests, a Chinese delicacy. Return to Miri. Overnight. (Meals: Breakfast/Lunch)
DAY 05 MIRI – KOTA KINABALU
Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer to the hotel for the flight to Kota Kinabalu
(MYY/BKI MH2800 0925/1020 hours). Transfer to your hotel. Afternoon proceed
on a city tour. Visit the highest point for a panoramic view of Kota Kinabalu,
an exclusive residential area, Likas Bay, the exterior of Sabah Foundation
building, a Buddhist Temple, the State Museum, State Mosque and the water
village. Overnight. (Breakfast).
DAY 06 KOTA KINABALU
Breakfast in hotel. Depart for a full day excursion to Kinabalu National Park,
the base of the highest mountain in Southeast Asia, Mount Kinabalu. Kinabalu
Park is a botanist’s paradise with over a thousand species of orchids, numerous
Rhododendrons and pitcher plants. There is also a fascinating variety of
bird species. Activities during the tour are a guided jungle walk, visit
the exhibition hall and watch a slide presentation of Kinabalu National Park
and Mount Kinabalu. Return to Kota Kinabalu. Overnight. (Meals: Breakfast/Lunch).
DAY 07 KOTA KINABALU – AIRPORT
Breakfast in the hotel. Time at leisure. Transfer to the airport for your onward
journey. (Meals: Breakfast). Kota Kinabalu has many fine beach Resorts for
beach extension.
